A Closet Flange or Toilet Flange is a pipe fitting (flange) that connects a toilet to the drain line. The closet flange hub is solvent welded around the drain pipe and then the flange is fastened to the floor. Then, a wax ring is used to seal the gap between the flange and the bottom of the toilet. The toilet is then bolted to the flange, not to the floor.
